When something doesn’t connect.

Most problems are one of a handful of fixable causes. Find your symptom below.

I can’t find Application Passwords in WordPress

The section is hidden when your site isn’t on HTTPS, or when a security plugin has disabled the feature. Move the site to HTTPS, or re-enable Application Passwords in your security plugin, then reload Users → Profile. Full walkthrough: Connect a WordPress site.

recto says my WordPress credential is wrong

Check three things: the username is your WordPress login name (not your email, unless that’s your username), the Application Password was copied in full (six groups of four), and the site URL matches where WordPress actually lives. recto verifies on connect, so a fix here is immediate.

My crawl came back empty or tiny

recto crawls published, indexable pages. A near-empty result usually means the site blocks crawlers (a robots.txt or security plugin rule), or most content is set to noindex. Allow recto’s crawl and re-run from the site screen.

Search Console shows zero impressions

Either the property is brand-new (Google needs days to accumulate data), or you connected a different property than the one with traffic. Reconnect and pick the property that matches your site exactly — domain vs. URL-prefix matters. See Connect Search Console.

My Search Console property isn’t listed

You’re signed in with a Google account that isn’t an owner of the property, or it was never verified. Add yourself as a user in Search Console, or reconnect with the owning Google account.

A link failed to publish

recto fails closed — if a push doesn’t land, it doesn’t mark the link live. The usual cause is the Application Password was revoked in WordPress, or the user lost publish rights. Generate a fresh Application Password and reconnect, then re-approve the suggestion.

I redeemed a code but can’t add a site

You’re at your site limit. Stack another code to raise it, or disconnect a site you no longer manage. Disconnecting never removes links you already approved. See Add another site.

If none of these fit, the foot of this page reaches a human — tell us the symptom and what you’d already tried.
