Docs / Anchor credits

Reference

What a credit is, and what spends one.

Almost everything in recto is included. Credits exist for one thing only: the AI call that proposes anchor text. Here is the exact line between free and metered.

What spends a credit

One credit is spent each time recto generates an anchor suggestion — the AI step that scans your related posts and proposes a phrase you already wrote as the link. That’s the only metered action in the product.

The billing screen showing the current plan, site allowance, and remaining anchor credits.
Your plan, sites, and remaining credits in one place. The meter moves only on anchor suggestions.

What’s always free

  • Crawling your site and building the link graph.
  • Detecting orphans and ranking them.
  • Reading Search Console impressions.
  • Publishing an approved link through WordPress.
  • Verifying the link is live by re-fetching the page.

When the meter resets — or stops

Included credits refresh with your billing period. If you’d rather not count them at all, bring your own key: with your OpenAI or Anthropic key enabled, anchor suggestions run on your provider account and recto’s meter stops entirely.

A rejected suggestion still cost the AI call that produced it, so it counts. But you’re never charged to publish or verify — only to generate the suggestion in the first place.
